Job Description

Company Description

The Cape Breton Medical Campus (CBMC) is a regional medical campus of Dalhousie University in partnership with Cape Breton University (CBU). The focus of the CBMC is family medicine and rural health. Medical students at the CBMC have committed to careers in rural family medicine in Nova Scotia. Cape Breton Medical Campus - Cape Breton University : Cape Breton University

The CBMC is supporting a research program focused on family medicine led by family physicians. The CBMC Research Mandate focuses on improving health outcomes in and with rural communities through applied research in healthy aging, chronic disease prevention, and equitable, accessible models of care, particularly in rural family medicine and primary care.

Located adjacent to the Cape Breton Medical Campus, The Rising Tide Collaborative Health Home is a teaching clinic that will provide accessible, comprehensive, and team-based primary health care in partnership with Nova Scotia Health.  The clinic will support patient attachment, collaborative care, and medical education — creating an integrated learning and care environment for residents, students, and interprofessional teams.

Nova Scotia Health is the largest provider of health services in Nova Scotia, with some specialized services also offered to clients throughout Atlantic Canada. We’re on a mission to achieve excellence in health, healing, and learning through working together, which is reflected in the hospitals, health centers, and community-based programs we operate across the province.

Our passionate team of professionals provides a variety of high-quality inpatient and outpatient services including academic, tertiary, and quaternary care, as well as continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions. Join a diverse team of innovators, collaborators, and creative thinkers today.

Job Description

CBMC and Rising Tide Collaborative Health Home are seeking Family Physician Clinician Scientist-Practitioners. The Clinician Scientist position will develop and sustain an impactful research program that advances the CBMC Research Mandate and as a Family Medicine Practitioner in the clinic, will contribute to the education of residents and students through preceptorship, mentorship, and role modeling in a supportive learning environment.

They will collaborate with CBU, Dalhousie University and Nova Scotia Health colleagues to advance research initiatives aligned with the CBMC Research Mandate: the practice of Family Medicine and in particular, rural family medicine in Nova Scotia and Canada; supporting and mentoring medical students, residents, graduate students, and non-research faculty to undertake research.

The successful candidate will also have collaborative opportunities to work with members of the Dalhousie Department of Family Medicine Primary Care Research Unit.

The successful candidate will foster a culture of research excellence, collaboration, and learner engagement across clinical and academic settings. It is expected that the successful candidate will obtain local, national, and international research funding, publish in academic peer-reviewed journals, and present at local, national and international conferences and pursue leadership and academic career development opportunities.

Join Nova Scotia's thriving healthcare ecosystem, where your expertise is valued and your contributions drive innovative, compassionate care for generations to come.
