Employment Terms:

• Permanent, Full‑Time: 40 hours/week (clinic-based; in-person with some virtual care as appropriate)
• Locum: Temporary/short‑term or longer‑term coverage; hours/schedule negotiable

Start Date: As soon as possible

Language of Work: English (French is an asset; not required)

Work Setting: Community family medicine clinic (outpatient)

Compensation Model: Fee‑for‑Service (FFS) ($84,266 / $233,752 / $451,418 based on OHIP and applicable schedules; actual earnings vary with patient volume/scope).

Role Summary

Openfield Medical Centre is seeking a Family Physician to provide comprehensive, longitudinal primary care to patients in Ottawa. The successful candidate will deliver evidence-based, patient-centred care and collaborate with clinic staff to support access, continuity, and quality.

Key Responsibilities / Job Duties

• Conduct patient assessments, including histories and physical examinations.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions and injuries.
• Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests (laboratory and imaging).
• Prescribe medications and counsel patients on treatment plans, prevention, and follow-up.
• Provide preventive care and chronic disease management (screening, immunizations, lifestyle counselling).
• Perform minor procedures within scope and competence (e.g., injections, suturing) as required.
• Coordinate referrals and continuity of care with specialists, hospitals, and community services.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in the clinic EMR.
• Participate in clinic quality improvement and practice initiatives as required.

Skills Requirements (Education, Credentials, Experience)

Education:

• MD (Doctor of Medicine) degree (or equivalent)

Licensure / Eligibility:

• Licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), or eligible for CPSO licensure by the start date
• CCFP (Certification in the College of Family Physicians of Canada) preferred; equivalent qualifications consistent with CPSO requirements will be considered
• Eligible for professional liability protection (CMPA or equivalent)
• Eligible to bill OHIP / participate in Ontario physician payment models as applicable

Experience:

• Primary care/family medicine experience is an asset
• Canadian experience is not required
