Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre Clinical Genetics Program in Thunder Bay, Ontario are seeking the assistance of general clinical genetics Locum(s).
Nestled on the pristine shores of Lake Superior and surrounded by the beauty of nature, Thunder Bay with a population of 113,000, offers a perfect balance of urban and rural life. With world class sailing, boating, camping, hiking, and cycling in the summer months, and downhill and cross-country skiing in the winter, Thunder Bay has something to offer healthy-living enthusiasts throughout the year.
Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC) is a state of the art 389-bed a cute care facility and academic health sciences centre that serves the people of Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario. TBRHSC is the Regional Trauma Centre and the Regional Cancer Program for all of Northwestern Ontario.
The Clinical Genetics Program provides general genetic services to the population of Northwestern Ontario, an area that is approximately the geographical size of France. This includes 69 indigenous communities of which almost half are from fly-in remote communities. The program is supported by genetic counsellors, genetic assistant and administrative support staff.
COVERAGE REQUIRED FOR:
We are looking for clinical genetics locum(s) to provide clinical genetics ambulatory service for approximately half a day per month virtual care clinics, with the option for 1-2 in-persons clinics per year.
SERVICE COVERAGE DETAILS:
- Genetic counselling and administrative (result tracking, booking) support is provided • Day-of-week is flexible
COMPENSATION:
- Round trip transportation to Thunder Bay, accommodations, and meals are provided for in-person clinics.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have a Medical Degree and should be certified (or eligible for certification by the start date) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with specialization in Medical Genetics and Genomics or certification in clinical genetics from Canadian College of Medical Geneticists, and must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario. Candidates must be willing to obtain and maintain hospital credentials/hospital privileges.
