Alexandra Marine & General Hospital is seeking locum Family Practice Anesthetists to support our Anesthesia Program!

Goderich offers small‑town charm just 1.25 hours from London, 1.5 hours from Kitchener‑Waterloo, and approximately 2.5 hours from Toronto, making weekend getaways, cultural events, and international travel easily accessible.

✨ Compensation:
- Fee for Service (FFS) (8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)
- Hospital On-Call Stipend (4:00pm – 8:00am)
✨ Accommodations:
✔ Provided for the duration of any locum assignment
✨ The Workload & Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- One (1) OR per day (8am to 4pm)
- Three (3) days of General Surgery (8am to 4pm)
- Two (2) days of Endoscopy (8am to 4pm)
- Shared On-Call Responsibilities (evening and weekends)

✨ The Team:
We pride ourselves on being a highly supportive, team‑based practice environment, with readily available consultative and hands‑on support across all hospital specialties - second brain and set of hands available!
New graduates’ benefit from strong mentorship and collaborative learning, while experienced physicians enjoy collegial practice and easy access to specialist expertise—ensuring confidence and seamless patient care at every stage of practice.
Your medical team consists of:
- Three (3) local GP Anesthetists including on-call support (second brain and set of hands available as needed)
- Three (3) local General Surgeons who are familiar with FpA scope of practice
- Seven (7) Psychiatrists including on-call hands on support
- OB Specialists including on-call hands on support
- ED Specialists on-site 24/7
- Hospitalists including on-call hands on support
Key Responsibilities
· General Surgery (appendix, gallbladder, hernia, bowel)
· Procedural sedations & on-call services for emergent cases
· Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
· Endoscopic Procedures (gastroscopy and colonoscopy)
· Obstetrical Procedures (epidural)
· Gynecological/Obstetrical surgery (hysterectomies, vaginal repairs, tubal ligations, caesarian sections)

· Pharmacy on-site
· Laboratory on-site
· Diagnostic Imaging on-site (with CT Scanner)
Technology & Programs
· MEDITECH: a fully integrated information system with onsite, office, and remote access
· EMR: Patient Keeper
· Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health – research involvement available
· Supports through: Underserviced Program (MoHLTC) and HealthForce Ontario
