Job Description
Southlake Health is currently recruiting for a hospital-based Benign Hematologist to join our dynamic and collegial team.
Position Overview
This is a permanent, hospital-based position with clinics operating through the Ambulatory Day Medicine area. The successful candidate will manage:
- General benign hematology referrals
- Thrombosis/hemostasis clinics
These clinics are fully supported by experienced nursing and administrative staff.
Team Structure
- Three hematologists with mixed benign/malignant practices
- One thrombosis-trained internist
- Four hematologists primarily at the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre
- Strong collaboration and commitment to clinical excellence
Clinical Expectations
- Minimum of 3 half-day clinics/week, up to 6–7 half-days based on interest
- Equitable participation in hospital call schedule, with flexibility for increased day call if desired
- Limited after-hours/weekend coverage
- Full administrative and office support provided
- Opportunities for involvement in quality improvement and clinical research available
Supportive Environment
- Large hospitalist/internal medicine team managing inpatient care
- Strong subspecialty support (ID, respirology, ICU, etc.)
- Robust pathology and laboratory services
- Collaborative model of care expected from all consulting physicians
