Alberta Health Services in partnership with The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, invites applications for an HIV provider (training in Family Medicine or General Internal Medicine with or without a Fellowship in Infectious Diseases) to be based at the Northern Alberta HIV Program (NAP) Clinic, Clinical Services Centre with 0.3 FTE at Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) and 0.3 FTE at Kaye Edmonton Clinic (KEC), located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
The NAP provides assessment and multidisciplinary care for people with human immunodeficiency virus (PWH) in Northern Alberta. The program serves over 3,000 PWH representing a diverse population including marginalized groups such as patients with addictions, mental health conditions, housing instability, and language barriers.
The successful applicant will provide outpatient service at the NAP clinic. The scope of practice includes management of HIV including assessment of new diagnoses and rapid antiretroviral start; diagnosis and management of opportunistic and sexually transmitted infections; assessment and provision of indicated immunizations; screening for cervical and anorectal cancer; collaboration with the NAP multidisciplinary team including infectious diseases physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, dieticians, and a counselor. Additional opportunities include liaising with community groups, participating in international conferences rich in scientific and clinical content, teaching, research, and quality improvement.
Clinic hours are 0800-1600 Monday to Friday. There is no expectation of after-hours or weekend work.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be an MD with certification in the College of Family Physician of Canada (CCFP) or the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
