South Huron Hospital is seeking a part-time, full-time, or locum Hospitalist to support our 24-7 coverage inpatient program. There are several opportunities to join us this summer (see locum dates above).

✨ Compensation:

• $1500 daily stipend

✨ Accommodations:

✔ Corporate rates available with Southbank Suites (luxury boutique hotel) for locum/visiting physicians. Located down the street from Hospital.

✔ Financial reimbursement (up to $150 dollars per stay) for the duration of any locum assignment for eligible physicians.



Key Responsibilities

Comprehensive Inpatient Care

• Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute and complex illnesses (e.g., pneumonia, diabetes, cardiac conditions).
• Provide care across 19 acute care beds: general medicine with four (4) rehabilitation funded beds.

Emergency Department Backup

• The Hospitalist acts as a back up to the Emergency Department in the event the ED Physician is required to go on transfer
• Compensation for ED backup includes:
  • $300 call in stipend
  • Plus, any additional fee-for-service for ED patients seen while covering

Care Coordination & Communication

• Act as the central point of contact for nurses and allied health teams.
• Maintain clear and compassionate communication with patients and families regarding care plans, risks, and progress.

Diagnostics & Treatment

• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and other diagnostics

Discharge & Transition Planning

• Coordinate follow-up care, rehab services, home health, and community supports to ensure safe patient transitions.

Technology & Programs

·        CERNER: a fully integrated information system with onsite, office, and remote access

·        Teaching opportunities for residents and elective learners

·        Supports through: Underserviced Program (MoHLTC) and HealthForce Ontario

• Supportive, collaborative Hospitalist, Emergency, and allied health team (Physiotherapy, X-Ray Technicians, Medical Laboratory Technologists, Pharmacy Technicians, Speech Language Pathologists, Diabetes Educators & Dieticians, Community Mental Health Social Workers & Outpatient Psychiatrists, Respiratory Therapists)
• You will be welcomed with a smooth onboarding process and strong local support

You’ll work closely with the South Huron Medical Team, including:

• 5 Family Physicians (medical clinic located directly across the street for ease of access/consult)
• Hospitalist Team
• Emergency department physicians
