(Summer Locum Opportunity)
Alexandra Marine & General Hospital (AMGH)
🌅 Goderich, Ontario – On the shores of Lake Huron 🌅
Alexandra Marine & General Hospital is seeking a locum Hospitalist to support our inpatient program Monday August 3, 2026 to Friday, August 7th (8am-5pm day shift).
This shift is paired with a local family physician/Hospitalist (inpatient list split) and would be a great opportunity for a physician new to the hospital, area, or recently graduated and looking for a supportive clinical environment to get started.
We offer an attractive package designed to support both new graduates and experienced Hospitalists:
✨ Compensation:
- $1,900 daily stipend (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
- $330 per on call shift, plus any applicable FFS billings (5:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.)
✨ Accommodations:
✔ Accommodation support provided for the duration of any locum assignment
Key Responsibilities
Comprehensive Inpatient Care
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute and complex illnesses (e.g., pneumonia, diabetes, cardiac conditions).
- Provide care across 22 acute care beds: general medicine, surgery, obstetrics, and intensive/coronary care.
Care Coordination & Communication
- Act as the central point of contact for specialists, nurses, and allied health teams.
- Maintain clear and compassionate communication with patients and families regarding care plans, risks, and progress.
Diagnostics & Treatment
- Order and interpret labs, imaging, and other diagnostics.
- Utilize on-site technology, including a CT scanner, a Telestroke-enabled ER, a Dialysis Unit, and P.A.C.S.
- MRI services are currently in development.
Discharge & Transition Planning
- Coordinate follow-up care, rehab services, home health, and community supports to ensure safe patient transitions.
Quality Improvement & Leadership
- Participate in committees and initiatives promoting safety, efficiency, and excellence in patient care.

· MEDITECH: a fully integrated information system with onsite, office, and remote access
· EMR: Patient Keeper
· Ontario Breast Screening Program
· Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health – research involvement available
· Teaching opportunities for residents and elective learners
· Supports through: Underserviced Program (MoHLTC) and HealthForce Ontario
