Job Description

LIVE AND THRIVE: MEDICINE AND COMMUNITY IN TRAIL, BC

In the heart of the Selkirk and Monashee Mountains, Trail (https://tinyurl.com/HelloTrail) is surrounded by crystal-clear lakes and lush forests that are home to a variety of wildlife. Together with nearby Rossland, these two towns provide abundant opportunities to raise families, forge lasting friendships within the community, and get involved locally. Here, you’ll find a fulfilling career and an extraordinary lifestyle that nourishes your soul.

In Trail and Rossland, winter adventures become a part of your everyday life; that’s the life you can have when you live near Red Mountain Resort, a key destination on British Columbia’s legendary Powder Highway. Just imagine gliding through fresh Kootenay snow and soaring down steep slopes, minutes from your own front door.

You’ll find endless opportunities for outdoor adventure here. Hike Sunningdale or Miral Heights for breathtaking views. If you’re a mountain biker, you’ll love the singletrack trails; if you’re a water enthusiast, you’ll enjoy kayaking or paddleboarding on the numerous lakes that dot the landscape.

Hit the links at Birchbank, known for its sprawling greens, and jaw-dropping shifts in elevation. Challenge yourself at Champion Lakes’ vibrant fairways. Tee off at Redstone, where Les Furber’s artistic brilliance shines, enhanced by striking rock formations, tranquil streams, glistening ponds, and immaculate white silica bunkers.

With spectacular landscapes and affordable real estate, you’ll find the ideal setting to establish your roots. Trail and Rossland are perfect for raising families, with wide open spaces and supportive communities. Come and see for yourself—we can’t wait to welcome you to our neighbourhoods!

VISIONARY CARE: CRAFTING YOUR CLINICAL PATH

Step into an environment where excellence and teamwork converge at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH). Are you a passionate, empathetic, and analytically-minded general adult psychiatrist? If so, you could be the perfect fit for our diverse and dedicated team. Here, you can play a crucial role in providing outstanding healthcare, supported by a culture deeply rooted in collaboration and mutual respect.

In this pivotal position, you’ll apply your expertise to a wide range of situations, allowing you to make a meaningful impact on your patients’ lives. You will be instrumental in enhancing the care provided at our 12-bed general adult inpatient unit, delivering essential consultations across medical and surgical units, as well as the emergency department, and nurturing a community-based practice. Beyond direct patient care, your engagement in comprehensive assessments and tailored treatment plans will be foundational to our mission.

As a key member of our team, you’ll collaborate, develop, evaluate, and refine our psychiatric programs, policies, and procedures. Our commitment to excellence extends throughout the region, embracing innovative outreach and telehealth services to meet our community’s diverse needs.

We invite you to follow your passions–we’ll support you each step of the way. Whether it’s tackling the intricacies of addictions, guiding struggling youth with compassion and empathy, or honing your skills in geriatric wellbeing, this is a place to pursue your true calling. Our culture empowers growth, from resilience building to ethical skill-sharpening. Together, we’ll lift each other up, serving with empathy and purpose.

Our strong bonds with UBC’s medical school and the family medicine residency underscore our dedication to shaping the next generations of clinicians. You’ll mentor, teach, and participate in educational activities that ignite passion. Our integrated clinical and instructional model provides opportunities for professional development and making significant contributions to psychiatry’s future.
