The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Surgeon for a locum position in the Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiac Surgery, with clinical and academic interests, the position has the potential to transition to a permanent full‑time appointment. The successful candidate must hold certification in Cardiac Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The successful candidate will join three other Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons as part of a team providing comprehensive cardiac surgical care to the southern half of Saskatchewan. Responsibilities include the clinical care of inpatients and outpatients, as well as undergraduate teaching and the training of postgraduate trainees. Call coverage is a mandatory aspect of this position.Remuneration is competitive for this locum and is based on a daily guaranteed rate of $2,610.24. Saskatchewan Health Authority will cover the cost of flights, car rental and temporary accommodation.
The ideal candidate will have comprehensive skills in all aspects of general adult cardiac surgery, preferably with a complementary fellowship. We are looking for a fully qualified surgeon able to independently and seamlessly step into a busy cardiac surgical practice well supported by cardiac anesthesiologists, clinical perfusion staff, excellent nursing staff and specialized surgical assistants. Additional specialized cardiac fellowship in aortic surgery or other cardiac subspecialities is required. Affiliation with the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine will provide the successful applicant with ample time for research and academic pursuits.
