Obstetrician/Gynecologist

NIAGARA HEALTH

The Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology at Niagara Health delivers 24/7, comprehensive Level 2C for Obstetrics and NICU Services providing low to high-risk care to patients within the Niagara region catchment area.  

Surgical services provide a total OR surgical case volume of ~ 1500 per year of which ~1000 are day stay cases. The Program offers full scope minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery. The team provides an equal share of OR time to all members of the Department that is responsive to clinical need and OR utilization.

We seek another motivated full time physician with a passion for providing the highest quality care to join our department to meet the continued growing needs of our community. General Obstetrics and Gynecology with an interest in the management of urogynecology, MIS (specific interest in more complicated cases), vulvar care or Maternal Fetal Medicine would be preferred.

Current group:

·         14 FTE’s with our new Recruit

The Role:

·         On Call – 12 Hr Shifts, approx. 4-5 calls/month (equal Days and Nights over the schedule)

·         Generalist OBGYN with MIS Training

·         provide hospital based inpatient clinical services

·         Participate in academic initiatives

·         Will be affiliated with McMaster University

·         Will be engaged in teaching, Quality Improvement and research activities of the Department, University and hospital.

·         Will establish a Community Practice within the Niagara Region.

Academic Affiliations:

Since its founding in 1966, innovation has been the hallmark of McMaster University’s Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine and a major contributor to its international reputation for excellence.

The medical school has expanded to a regional campus in Niagara, which is located at Brock University. Students at the Niagara Regional Campus complete their clinical rotations in one of the six area hospitals with teaching done by the highly skilled and motivated hospital physicians.

Opportunities for strengthening and building strong academic partnerships are a priority for the NHS as the hospital has expanded into this new facility. We are interested in physicians who will pursue a university faculty appointment and participate in academic activities within a strong regional community hospital setting.

In addition to McMaster, Niagara Health is building strong ties with other regional academic providers such as Brock University and Niagara College.

Qualifications Required:

·         Independent license or eligible for independent license with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)

·         FRCP(C)

·         Eligible to work in Canada without restrictions

·         Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset.
