The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services–Calgary Corridor and the University of Calgary invite applications for the position of Physician Lead Bariatric Surgery, Department of Surgery, Calgary Corridor
This leadership position is open to surgeons based primarily in Calgary. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated an interest in surgical leadership and will have a respected profile in the physician community. They will have effective communication skills and a track record of engaging their team members. They will have demonstrated success in areas of clinical practice and either education, research, quality improvement or leadership.
The Bariatric program encompasses medical inpatient and community (pre and post surgery) care as well as surgical care. This Physician Lead in the Department of Surgery provides oversight of the surgical elements of inpatient care, accreditation, quality and safety initiatives for bariatric patients.
Deliverables include:
1. Represent the group in all relevant leadership meetings concerning the Bariatric Surgery program.
2. Organize and lead regular business meetings with the group (provide minutes to General Surgery Section Lead.
3. Assign/allocate clinic schedule for the Surgeons working in the Bariatric Surgery program.
4. Organize the provision of educational sessions for allied health workers.
5. Meet with the Bariatric Clinic staff regularly for question and answer sessions.
6. Meet with Clinic Manager and Medical Director on regular basis.
7. Respond to ongoing issues that arise out of SHC/PLC Bariatric Clinic regarding bariatric issues on daily basis.
8. Respond to patient concerns that arise in the clinic and/or following surgery.
9. Arrange Bariatric Call Schedule.
10. Coordinate and provide recruitment and growth requirements for the group
