Job Description

The Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) Radiology Group in Kitchener - Waterloo is looking to recruit a full-time radiologist with an interest in Neuroradiology, to join the radiology group. The successful candidate should be Fellowship trained in Neuroradiology with strong interpretive skills in all imaging modalities. The position requires coverage of general radiology and on call, overnight call is provided by Tele radiology services. We are a group of 18 radiologists and the position is to deal with increasing neuroradiology  workload. The position is expected to commence January 2027, but is negotiable.

Kitchener-Waterloo is a modern, vibrant business community in the heart of Southwestern Ontario’s Golden Triangle and one of the fastest growing communities in Ontario. A great place to live, Kitchener-Waterloo is located just one hour west of Toronto and offers a perfect blend of an urban center combined with scenic rural landscapes. Grand River Hospital (GRH) and St. Mary’s General Hospital (SMGH) merged in spring 2025. The hospitals have developed well-defined and complementary clinical programs to serve both the local community and the region. Together they provide a full range of acute care services. As part of their integration strategy, the hospitals have a common medical staff, joint medical and administrative leadership positions, and an integrated planning system. Both hospitals have well-earned reputations for providing excellent care and for friendly and collegial work environments.

The radiologists work in collaboration across the sites and we currently have expertise in Neuroradiology, Body imaging, Women’s imaging, Cardiac/thoracic imaging and Vascular and interventional radiology to advance patient care. As a member of the professional staff, understanding the rationale and need to join quality improvement initiatives, including peer review, and striving to improve the care and services to the community is essential. Radiologists are expected to take part in multidisciplinary cancer rounds. There are three CT scanners and three MRI scanners across the hospitals.  A state of the art Philips 1.5 T Ambition MRI has been installed at Midtown and a Philips 1.5 T Ambition MRI was installed at the Queen’s Boulevard site in spring 2024.

The Midtown site is one of Ontario's largest community hospitals, with 665 beds, serving more than 750,000 residents in Waterloo Region and Wellington County. We have 15 core clinical programs and services, including the Regional Cancer Centre, Regional Renal Program, Critical Care with a closed level three ICU, Waterloo Wellington Breast Centre, Pediatric services, Regional Stroke services and a high-volume, high-acuity Emergency Department. In addition, there has been progressive expansion of our role as a teaching site for McMaster medical students and residents. WRHN infuses five corporate values into everything we do: professionalism, teamwork, positive attitude, respect and communication.

The Queen’s Boulevard site  is one of Ontario’s top performing hospitals, nationally recognized for providing innovative, best practice adult acute care, programs include Cardiology and Cardiothoracic surgery, Emergency care, Diagnostic imaging, Medicine, Respiratory and Thoracic care amongst others. Located in the heart of Kitchener, Ontario, the Queen’s Boulevard site serves as the Regional Cardiac Centre, caring for a population base of more than 750,000 people that extends from Waterloo Region to Wellington County, Grey Bruce and beyond. At Queen's our vision is inspiring excellence, we also look to inspire others, our patients in their care, our team, and take it to another level, holding true to our values of compassion, respect, inclusion, integrity, collaboration and innovation.

Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario, certified by the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (or equivalent) and meet credentialing requirements of the hospitals. WRHN is an equal opportunity employer. Please note that the hospitals have an active vaccination mandate in place, the successful applicant will need to comply with this and any associated health and safety measures.
