Position Overview
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Queen’s University at Kingston invites applications for Clinical Academic) Obstetrician & Gynaecologist appointment to be based in Brockville, Ontario. This position will support clinical service delivery in the Brockville region while contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education at Queen’s University. This position is to support clinical academic activities affiliated with the University. This position is to fill an existing vacancy within the University.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative clinical team at Brockville General Hospital, working alongside Obstetrician/Gynaecologists and allied health professionals in a well-supported community practice environment. The practice includes access to turnkey office space and established hospital resources.
Role Description
The successful incumbent will be expected to:
· Provide comprehensive obstetrical and gynaecological care in a community-based setting
· Participate in a shared on-call rota (approximately 1:4)
· Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs affiliated with Queen’s University
· Support clinical service delivery aligned with departmental and regional priorities
The successful incumbent must demonstrate:
· Demonstrated clinical expertise in comprehensive obstetrics and gynaecology, including management of both low- and high-risk obstetrical care in a community hospital setting
· Proven technical and surgical skills, including experience in minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures
· Demonstrated teaching effectiveness, including clinical skills instruction and supervision of undergraduate and/or postgraduate learners
· Strong ability to work in an interdisciplinary, team-based environment, contributing to collaborative patient care
· Experience or interest in quality improvement, patient safety, or clinical program development (considered an asset)
Qualifications
Qualified applicants will:
· Hold an MD degree (or equivalent)
· Be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
· Be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
· Demonstrate training and experience in general obstetrics and gynaecology, with additional surgical expertise considered an asset
Preference will be given to candidates whose experience demonstrates strong clinical capability, teamwork, and commitment to patient-centred care.
