Nuclear Medicine Physician
About the role
Cambridge Memorial Hospital is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Physician to join our Nuclear Medicine division in the Department of Diagnostic Imaging. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated physician to be a part of a well-equipped community hospital setting with a supportive team environment. The successful candidate will perform and interpret a broad range of nuclear medicine studies, provide consultative services to referring clinicians, and collaborate closely with our diagnostic imaging team.

Cambridge Memorial Hospital is a vibrant, full-service, 217-bed acute care hospital affiliated with McMaster DeGroote School of Medicine, located in Cambridge, Ontario. Serving the communities of Cambridge North Dumfries and Region of Waterloo, it provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient care services, including intensive care, surgery, maternal and newborn care and mental health supports. Our Emergency Department is a high-volume, full-service unit equipped to handle a broad spectrum of acute medical, surgical, pediatric, and trauma cases. The hospital's Medical Imaging department offers a full suite of diagnostic services including nuclear medicine, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy. Our facility serves a diverse and growing patient population of more than 150,000 residents. A decade long capital redevelopment project completed in 2025, modernizing the hospital to meet the evolving needs o the growing communities it serves. With state-of-the-art patient care facilities, CMH is one of the most technologically sophisticated hospitals in the Waterloo Wellington region. CMH is also currently embarking on a journey to implement a new Hospital Information System (HIS) in the fall of 2026.
Key Responsibilities
The Nuclear Medicine Physician will be responsible for:
• Performing and interpreting a full spectrum of nuclear medicine procedures
• Participate and oversee appropriate select appropriate selection, preparation, administration and disposition of radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring adhere to safety and regulatory standards.
• Delivering timely, high-quality diagnostic reports and consultative opinions to referring physicians.
• Collaborate with Medical Radiation Technologists in Nuclear Medicine to optimize protocols, image quality, workflow and patient experience.
• Contribute to departmental quality assurance, radiation safety, and continuous quality improvement activities.
• Potential to engage in teaching of learners and participation in hospital committees as interested and required.
• The successful candidate will work closely with technologists, cardiologists, radiologists and other referring physicians to ensure high-quality patient-centered care.
Required Qualifications
• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution with post-graduate training in Nuclear Medicine +/- Diagnostic Radiology with dedicated Nuclear Medicine fellowship.
• Certification in Nuclear Medicine (ie. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)-accredited residency in Nuclear Medicine, or equivalent)
• Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) in Nuclear Medicine, or eligibility
• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), or eligibility for licensure
• Demonstrated proficiency in a broad range of nuclear medicine imaging and therapy procedures
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, patient-focused approach
