Job Description
We are looking for a full time Obstetrician/Gynecologist to join our team at the Brightshores Health System (BSH) hospital in Owen Sound Ontario. Short/long term locum opportunities are also available.
Owen Sound is located right on beautiful Georgian Bay just 2.5 hours from Toronto/Hamilton. We are right on the Bruce Trail with its all-season hiking trails and waterfalls. There are lots of quiet country roads for excellent cycling. Summer brings beautiful sandy beaches along both Lake Huron and Georgian Bay and spectacular scenery and hiking on the nearby Bruce Peninsula. We are close to Collingwood/Blue Mountain for skiing in winter, with a variety of cross-country ski trails nearby. The area is also known for its summer fishing and boating, amazing restaurants and live music, Summerfolk music festival, snowmobiling and popular OHL hockey team.
We are a level 2 center with an ICN caring for babies 32w+. We have about 800 births/year. We have 24/7 support from anesthesia and pediatrics, as well as general surgery and urology. Access and quality of diagnostic imaging is excellent. We provide consultative support to a large catchment area with a number of nearby Level 1 hospitals and have a collegial relationship to a group of local midwives.
In a full-time position you will be expected to provide comprehensive community gynecology services, including consults and surgical services. You will also provide comprehensive obstetrical care. On call requirements are 1:6 and can be done from home if <20 minutes from hospital. There is an option to supplement income by picking up extra call shifts. There is a well-equipped on-call room available on the labour unit if you prefer to stay in house. There is no expectation to work post-call.
We have access ample operating room time and OR support for advanced laparoscopic/hysteroscopic surgery.
Ambulatory care time is available for colposcopy or minor procedures.
We are a very collegial and supportive group. One of our greatest strengths is our shared OB practice. We often assist each other in surgery as well. Our clinic is conveniently situated within the hospital and we have excellent support staff and ACCURO EMR.
We are on a generous AFP which provides guaranteed monthly income plus HOCC on-call payment and a portion of billings for full-time equivalent. For short-term locum positions we offer a per diem payment.
We value and are able to achieve an excellent work-life balance.
Applicant should have
