About West Lincoln Memorial Hospital (WLMH) Emergency Department

WLMH is a community hospital in Grimsby and a site of Hamilton Health Sciences. Emergency Department volumes are approximately 22,500 visits per year with an expected increase of 25% in 2026 in response to the new site opening in late 2025.

The ED care for patients from all life stages and on average has about 20% of pediatric visits and 30-40% of geriatrics patients making it an ideal location for candidates with a special interest in caring for these patient populations. The WLMH is a busy hospital known for its’ high-acuity patients in ED which is supported by a variety of specialties including Anesthesia, Obstetric/Gynecology, Medicine and Surgery, 24/7 RT support, 24/7 Xray and CT, daytime hour ultrasound in DI, and access to a SonoSite Ultrasound machine within the ED. As a site of HHS, access to subspecialties is through tertiary care hospitals.

About the Opportunity

The Emergency Department at WLMH is currently looking for physicians to join their collaborative, adaptable and innovative team.

Scheduling is based on a 4-group roster system, and the successful candidates will be added to one of the four groups. With four shifts per day, each group works one weekend (Friday-Sunday) per four-week block, as well as their designated day per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday). Each physician will typically be on call 1-2 days per month, at which time they must be within 30 mins of the hospital.

The successful candidate will receive a blended rate as well as 50% of shadow billings with no overhead costs. There is a small charge for billings which are submitted through an external company. Limited ED mentorships are available each year.

Requirements

To be eligible for this opportunity you must:

• Have an active CPSO registration
• Have ACLS, PALS, ATLS, and NRP
• Have availability to cover 1 day/week and every 4th weekend (totalling availability of 7 pre-specified days of coverage in a 4-week block, however, if desired a higher number of shifts is available)
• Available for all shifts including nights and weekends
• For on-call shifts, must be within 30 minutes of hospital
• Ultrasound skills or experience is considered an asset
• +1 in CCFP (EM) is not required but is an asset
