About Guelph General Hospital (GGH):
GGH is a dynamic, comprehensive acute care facility providing a full range of services to the residents of Guelph and Wellington County. In addition to providing 24-hour emergency coverage and advanced diagnostic support, GGH is accredited with Exemplary Standing by Accreditation Canada, a regional provider of general vascular surgery, a Level III Trauma Centre, and a designated provincial Bariatric Centre of Excellence.
Private on-call rooms—including a bed, desk, TV, bathroom, fridge, microwave and lockers—are available for physicians who choose to stay overnight at the hospital.

Department Summary:
GGH is a fully accredited hospital with exemplary standing. It has over 1800 births per year. We have a renovated and redesigned the advanced level 2a Special Care Nursery (10 beds), a pediatric ward (8-10 beds) and pediatric day surgery. There is also a neonatal and pediatric outpatient clinic that is assisted by an RN/lactation consultant and a diabetic clinic.
Position Summary:
Guelph General Hospital is seeking a skilled Paediatrician to join our outstanding team in beautiful Guelph, Ontario. As a key member of our medical team, you will collaborate with a dedicated group of experienced physicians to provide exceptional care to our community.
On call physicians are expected to take consults from the emergency department, obstetricians, midwives and community physicians. Pediatricians admit patients when required and attend at risk deliveries with SCN nurse and RT. Staff also participate in Grand Rounds (Royal College accredited), teaching and quality improvement committees. We are also a teaching site affiliated with McMaster University.
Payment is fee-for-service and a hospital on call stipend, with an added incentive for weekend and holiday calls. Pediatricians participate in a service model. Full time staff will be required to complete 4-5 evening/overnight call including 24h weekend call, as well as 6-7 weeks of service per year. Full time staff will also work in the neonatal and pediatric outpatient clinic.
Experience and Skills:
The successful candidate must be licensed to practice in Ontario and be in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. They’re a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) and must hold up to date certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
