Job Description
Description:
The Palliative & End of Life Care (PEOLC) Program, Alberta Health Services - Calgary Zone is currently accepting applications for a qualified Palliative Care Consultant Physician to work in a variety of clinical settings in a full-time or part-time basis.
Alberta Health Services – Calgary Zone includes the City of Calgary as well as a large area of south-central Alberta extending from Banff National Park to areas surrounding Calgary. Palliative care consultations are provided by inter-professional teams consisting of physicians, advanced practice nurses and other team members, and are delivered in a variety of service sites such as Acute Care, Homecare, Hospices, Outpatient Clinics, Rural facilities, and an Intensive Palliative Care Unit (IPCU).
In addition, the physicians in the Service are encouraged to apply for academic appointment in the Division of Palliative Medicine, Department of Oncology, University of Calgary. The Division is extensively involved in a program of Palliative Medicine education for medical students and rotating residents, offers a highly regarded palliative medicine residency, provides opportunities for teaching in other Faculties at the University of Calgary, and has many active opportunities to conduct research in Palliative Medicine.
The physicians in the Service are also required to participate in an on-call schedule to provide after-hours coverage, which would also include some acute care consultative work on weekends.
Physicians who participate in the consult service group receive payment through a clinical alternative relationship plan (ARP) that has been negotiated with Alberta Health (Government of Alberta).
We’re passionate about what we do. Our team of skilled and dedicated health care professionals, support staff, and physicians promote wellness and provide health care every day, all across the Calgary Zone. We are an equal opportunity employer. AHS values the diversity of the people and communities we serve and is committed to attracting, engaging and developing a diverse and inclusive workforce. |
