Surgical Assistant – Physician Opportunity

Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) is seeking qualified Surgical Assistants to join our dynamic and collegial surgical team in Barrie, Ontario.

Position Overview

The Surgical Assistant will support our surgeons by providing intraoperative assistance including exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other technical functions to ensure safe and effective surgical outcomes. The role may also include pre- and post-operative duties to facilitate optimal patient care.

• Gynecology Oncology

Qualifications

• Independent license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
• Certification with CFPC or RCPSC
• Experience in surgical assisting is an asset (orientation and training available for new graduates)
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to professionalism, patient safety, and quality care

Compensation

• OHIP fee-for-service billing
• Eligible for Hospital On-Call Coverage (HOCC) stipends for after-hours and weekend call
