Job Description
Trillium Health Partners is the largest community based academic health network in Ontario, serving over one million residents in the communities of Mississauga, Peel Region and West Toronto. The hospital encompasses three main sites – Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital, and Queensway Health Centre – offering a full range of acute care hospital services.
Trillium Health Partners is a regional tertiary level Ophthalmology center, providing glaucoma and advanced anterior segment surgery, paediatric ophthalmology/strabismus surgery, corneal transplants, oculoplastic care and cataract surgery. With 175,000 people in Peel Region living with diabetes, we are expanding our Division’s subspecialty services to provide vitreoretinal surgery to patients in our community.
Our Surgery Program is seeking a full-time Associate Vitreo-Retinal Ophthalmologist to be a member of our Division of Ophthalmology. The ideal candidate will have FRCS(C) certification in Ophthalmology with a sub-specialty focus in surgical retina. In this role, the physician would join a dedicated team of fellow Ophthalmologists and work closely with the interprofessional team to support patient/family centered care.
The candidate will be expected to participate in the Division of Ophthalmology’s general on-call schedule. While surgical time would be available for the candidate’s primary focus on retinal procedures, additional limited adult cataract surgical time may be available. It is expected that the candidate will provide comprehensive ophthalmology office-based care in a community-based office practice that is located to provide accessible service to the residents of the Mississauga and West Toronto communities.
Trillium Health Partners is an affiliated academic teaching center with the University of Toronto. The preferred candidate will be expected to participate in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical learners and participate in quality improvement initiatives. Experience or strong interests in quality improvement, innovation, healthcare technologies, and clinical and applied research will be an asset. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, and a commitment to an inter-professional care model, are also essential.
The position represents an opportunity to join a group of dedicated healthcare professionals in a progressive organization. The successful candidate will be licensed in good standing in Ontario or eligible for a license to practice in Ontario. Trillium Health Partners is strongly committed to diversity within its community and especially welcomes applications from visible minority group members, women, Aboriginal persons, and persons with disabilities, members of sexual minority groups and others who may contribute to further diversification of ideas.
Interested candidates are requested to reply with a letter of interest, curriculum vitae and the names and contact of three referees no later than March 31, 2025 to:
Dr. Antonio Finelli, Chief of Surgery
