Parry Sound is an easy 90 minute drive north of Toronto and only a 6 hour drive from Ottawa. We are also reachable by Ontario Northland Bus

Our Administrative Assistant is available to support travel arrangements and logistics, as well as answer questions about what it is like to work and stay in our vibrant community! They will be your main point of contact for support and orientation during your local assignment.

Position Overview, Schedule, and Supports:

Position Overview & Schedule

WPSHC ICU is a 6 bed closed unit managed by 1 Internal Medicine physician who also provides additional consults to acute care and the ED

•Shift starts at 8 am August 31 and ends at 8 am September 4 with on call overnight

• Shift starts and 8 am on September 21 and ends at 8 am on September 25 with on call overnight

Clinical Supports:

• Phone support is available from a local IM physician 8-4 daily

• Access to Virtual Critical Care Services (VCC) 24/7 through remote video consultations to help with 

management of critically ill patients without requiring a transfer to a tertiary centre. 

• Interdisciplinary team including nurse practitioners, registered nurses, registered practical nurses, 

dietitian, social worker, and physiotherapy services.

• CT scanner, ultrasound and X ray on-site as well as 24hr laboratory.

Compensation and Expense Reimbursement:

Compensation: 

Daily Compensation of $3000 per day. NSLP will reimburse locums a daily honorariums (currently 386.44/day) and either an on-call sessional rates (currently 1773.75/day) or physician to claim fee for service billings. WPSHC will top-up the locum to receive $3000/day, for example if daily honorarium + on-call sessional = 2160.19 then the top-up would be 839.81/day. The HFO website under NSLP (Northern Specialist Locum Program) list the expenses and reimbursements. Physician must be registered with HealthForce Ontario

Call Arrangements: 24 hours on-call

Physicians must be registered with HealthForce Ontario

Accommodations: The hospital can assist in making arrangements for accommodations or the locum can make them on their won. Physicians must be registered with HealthForce Ontario
