Job Description

Come work as a Cardiologist with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!

The Vancouver General Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital Divisions of Cardiology seek a full-time Women’s Heart Health and Interventional Cardiologist. Qualified candidates must have completed training in cardiovascular medicine and be certified or be eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. The candidate will have completed training in a women’s heart health program (ideally in a recognized international fellowship program). Preference will be given to those with an interest in education scholarship and/or research in women’s heart health. The candidate should have at least 2 years of interventional training.

The successful candidate will possess exceptional communication and teaching skills; a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students; a proven record of excellence in teaching. Candidates should have a strong track record of being able to work well in teams. Clinical responsibilities include supporting the Leslie Diamond Women’s Heart Health Centre as a principal commitment in addition to interventional cardiology coverage at either or both St. Paul’s and Vancouver General Hospitals.

This role will also be an unpaid clinical faculty position within the Division of Cardiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). As part of the UBC Division of Cardiology’s academic focus, the successful candidate is expected to substantially support the development and growth of the UBC Cardiology research and education programs. The Division of Cardiology will support an appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher, however clinical faculty appointments at UBC are assigned at a rank determined by the Academic Appointments, Reappointments, Promotions and Tenure Committee (AARPT) of the UBC Department of Medicine.

Equity and diversity are essential to academic and clinical excellence. An open and diverse community fosters the inclusion of voices that have been underrepresented or discouraged. We invite applications from qualified candidates who share our commitment to employment equity and inclusive excellence, and we welcome applications from members of groups that have been marginalized on any grounds enumerated under the B.C. Human Rights Code, including sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, racialization, disability, political belief, religion, marital or family status, age and/or status as a First Nation, Metis, Inuit, or Indigenous person. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority.

Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
