WELL Health Lonsdale is a family practice clinic in North Vancouver seeking a Consultant Rheumatologist to join our multidisciplinary team. We provide comprehensive, collaborative longitudinal care to the local community. By integrating specialized rheumatology services within our family practice environment, we aim to streamline patient care pathways, improve access, and offer a holistic approach to managing complex chronic conditions.
Position Summary:
As an outpatient clinician, you will provide specialized diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultative services for patients presenting with a wide spectrum of autoimmune and musculoskeletal disorders. You will work closely with our team of family physicians, allied health professionals, and support staff to manage both new referrals and ongoing chronic cases. This role is strictly outpatient, offering predictable scheduling with no mandatory inpatient on-call duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage adult patients with inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases, crystalline arthropathies, osteoporosis, and other autoimmune conditions.
Provide timely consultations and longitudinal care plans for patients referred by internal family physicians and community providers.Perform outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including joint aspirations and soft tissue injections, as clinically indicated.
Collaborate with family physicians to co-manage complex patients, ensuring seamless transitions of care and clear communication.Utilize the clinic’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system for efficient documentation, prescription management, and referral tracking.
Participate in clinic quality improvement initiatives and occasional multi-disciplinary clinical meetings.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
Certification in Rheumatology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) or eligible for immediate certification.
Full license (or eligibility for full licensure) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC).
Eligibility for a Medical Services Plan (MSP) billing number in British Columbia.
Demonstrated competence in outpatient clinical rheumatology and hands-on procedural skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with family practice teams and diverse patient populations.
