Family Physician Opportunity – Practice Takeover in Beautiful Collingwood, Ontario
Are you looking for a rewarding family practice in a vibrant, growing community with an exceptional quality of life? A well-established family practice in Collingwood, Ontario is seeking a family physician to take over a full roster from a retiring physician.
About the Location:
Collingwood is a thriving community nestled between the scenic Niagara Escarpment and the shores of South Georgian Bay. Just 1.5 hours from Toronto Pearson International Airport and 2 hours from downtown Toronto, it offers an unmatched lifestyle with year-round outdoor activities including skiing at Blue Mountain, cycling, golf, hiking, and sailing. Often referred to as southern Ontario’s playground, it’s the perfect place to balance work and leisure.
About the Practice:
- Established in 1992, the practice has evolved from broad-scope care to a focused office-based practice.
- Current roster: 1,200–1,300 patients.
- No hospital-based responsibilities required. Optional community-based palliative care and hospice work if desired.
- Minor after-hours clinic commitment: one weekend shift per year and one weekday evening every 2–3 months.
- Located one block from the hospital in a modern, spacious office on Hume Street (approx. 3,000 sq. ft.).
- 7 exam rooms, lab space, 2 washrooms on the main floor.
- 3 additional exam rooms, a large meeting/boardroom, and another washroom upstairs.
- Shared space with 3 other full-time physicians and 2 nurse practitioners.
- Collaborative environment: typically 3 physicians in the office at any time. Most work 5–7 half-days per week.
- Access to local hospice, community-based palliative care, and home visits as preferred.
Practice Model:
- Member of a 50-physician Family Health Organization (FHO), operating under a capitation model.
- Integrated electronic medical records (shared across the FHO, Family Health Team, and Ontario Health Team).
- Seamless connectivity with hospital, specialists, home care, and hospice.
- E-prescribing integrated with 35 local pharmacies.
- Onsite Family Health Team support for mental health, diabetes care, e-consult services, and more.
Compensation & Overhead:
- Predictable monthly income via capitation (typical per-patient payment ranges from $100–$500/year).
- Gross monthly income: approx. $35,000.
- Overhead shared among physicians based on roster size.
- Typical expenses: approx. $6,000/month.
- Net annual income: approx. $350,000.
Recruitment Incentive:
- The Town of Collingwood is offering a $75,000 incentive for a five-year commitment.
