ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
NL Health Services – Eastern Urban Zone invites applications for a Locum General Practitioner in Oncology (GPO) within the Cancer Care Program at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre in St. John's, NL. This locum opportunity covers an extended leave period of approximately six (6) months, with the start date to be confirmed.
The Physician will work primarily in the outpatient cancer clinic and will be responsible for the medical management of patients receiving cancer care. Hours of work are normally 08:00–17:00 but may vary according to patient care needs.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
- Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
- Experience or interest in oncology considered an asset
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Function within the scope of practice of a General Practitioner in Oncology to provide services within the Cancer Care Program — Eastern Urban Zone
- Provide individualized direct and indirect patient care in the outpatient cancer clinic
- Manage urgent or emergent situations in the chemotherapy area including hypersensitivity reactions to chemotherapy
- Work Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day, normally 08:00–17:00, varying according to patient needs
- Attend and participate in appropriate educational and academic activities including Oncology Grand Rounds and Cancer Tumour Board Rounds
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
