Job Description

This position is a COMMUNITY position and is NOT part of Alberta Health Services.

Please note that Alberta Health Services, Covenant Health, Primary Care Alberta, and Recovery Alberta are under no obligation to provide privileging to any candidate within a facility. Eligibility for clinical opportunities with these organizations will be determined based on qualifications, credentials, and service needs at the time of recruitment, and cannot be assessed in advance or influenced by third-party sponsorship or referral.

Job Description:

Envision Mind Care is a private mental health and addiction clinic in Edmonton, Alberta, providing compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care in a setting that is warm rather than institutional. We deliver both outpatient and residential treatment.

Our model is genuinely interdisciplinary. Psychiatrists at Envision practise alongside an in-house team of psychologists, general practitioners, nurse therapists, addiction counsellors, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and nutritional support staff. Case formulation is shared and treatment planning is collaborative. Physicians are supported by full administrative infrastructure, including reception, scheduling, and electronic medical records.

We specialise in complex and treatment-resistant presentations: post-traumatic stress disorder and complex PTSD, substance use disorders, treatment-resistant depression and anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and chronic pain syndromes with a mental health component. Our clinical programmes include Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, psychedelic-assisted treatments, SMART Recovery-based residential addiction treatment, and intravenous nutritional therapy. We have particular depth in supporting first responders, veterans, and professionals in high-demand occupational roles, while remaining open to clients from all walks of life.

Living and Working in Edmonton

Edmonton is Alberta's capital and the centre of a metropolitan region of more than 1.4 million people. Affordability is a genuine draw: housing costs are substantially lower than many other metropolitan cities across Canada, and Alberta remains the only province without a provincial sales tax, so residents pay only the five per cent federal GST.

For families, Edmonton offers strong public and separate school systems, extensive recreation infrastructure, and the University of Alberta with its faculty of medicine and research hospitals. The North Saskatchewan River valley runs through the heart of the city and forms one of the largest connected urban parkland systems in North America, and the Rocky Mountains are within a half-day drive.

Our clinic is located in Downtown Edmonton, with convenient access from across the greater Edmonton area.

Position Summary

Envision Mind Care is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be a clinician who is energized by complex psychiatric presentations, values collaborative practice, and wants meaningful input into how care is designed rather than simply delivered.

The role offers genuine scheduling flexibility, a mix of virtual and in-person care, and optional involvement in specialised clinical programming, supervision, and medical leadership. Both outpatient and residential caseload options are available.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Service

Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for adult clients presenting with complex and often co-occurring conditions. Manage ongoing follow-up care, including medication initiation, titration, and review. Coordinate care with allied health colleagues and external providers. Support clients within our outpatient clinic and, optionally, within our residential treatment programme. Participate in interprofessional case reviews and team consultations.

Education

Optional opportunities to contribute to the education of learners and colleagues, including supervision of residents, medical students, nurse practitioners, or other learners as applicable, clinical teaching within team rounds, and development of internal training content.

Administration and Leadership

Optional opportunities to support the development of new clinical programmes, contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, and take on medical leadership responsibilities as the clinic grows.

Research

As one of Edmonton's growing private mental health clinics, we are keen to develop this area and would welcome a colleague interested in helping to build research and programme evaluation capacity.
