This is a unique opportunity to provide acute care within a specialized 6-bed inpatient unit alongside a dedicated, multidisciplinary team in Windsor, Ontario. We offer a highly collegial and supportive team environment, very attractive compensation and relocation incentives, ensuring a focus on both professional fulfillment and excellent work/life balance.
Seeking a Physician Leader for the Division
Alongside clinical requirements, we are actively seeking an experienced leader to assume the role of Division Head of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at WRH.
This leadership position involves the reorganization and modernization of services and clinical oversight of the full spectrum of hospital-based services (inpatient, consultation-liaison and outpatient). The goal is to ensure sustainable service delivery, while maintaining the highest standards of clinical care and operational excellence.
Clinical Responsibilities of Active Staff:
- Collaborative Care: Share responsibilities for youth inpatient services, on-call coverage, consultation-liaison, and post-discharge clinics.
- Inpatient Management: Oversee clinical care for the acute 6-bed unit (average stay: ~1 week).
- Regional Impact: Provide expert evaluation and treatment for youth admitted from Emergency Rooms across Windsor, Leamington, and Chatham.
- Consultative Services: Support the pediatric unit at WRH with specialized psychiatric consults.
- Team Leadership: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including Social Workers, Child & Youth Workers, and Psychologists.
Why Choose Psychiatry at WRH?
- Unique Specialized Environment: Work within the current 6-bed unit, located on the campus of Maryvale Adolescent & Family Services, providing seamless access to integrated mental health services, day treatment, and outpatient counseling.
- Flexibility & Well-being: Enjoy scheduling flexibility supported by an innovative leadership team committed to physician work/life balance.
- Academic Opportunities: Educate and mentor residents from the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, with eligibility for an academic appointment.
- Private Practice Potential: Personal or shared office space available if interested, to facilitate follow-up care or receive community referrals.
- Competitive Package: Includes a highly attractive compensation structure and relocation incentive package.
What you bring to Our Team:
- Must be certified, or be eligible for certification, by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent.
- Must hold, or be eligible for, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
- A strong commitment to collegiality, clinical excellence, and collaborative care.
- Must have demonstrated leadership experience or significant potential for overseeing clinical services.

Why Windsor-Essex?
The Windsor-Essex area is ecologically rich with extensive parkland along with a southwest location that extends warm weather activities such a golfing, gardening, and water sports. Windsor offers the unique opportunities of a larger metropolitan area and the benefits of a smaller community. Living directly across the border from Detroit, Michigan places you on a cosmopolitan stage where arts, culture, big league sports, and entertainment are just moments away. Best of all, you can enjoy access to all of these big-city advantages while living in the relative tranquility (and low costs) of a much smaller, friendlier community.
