Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Corridor invites applications for the role of Deputy Corridor Clinical Department Lead (DCCDL), Anesthesiology – Quality.
This 0.20 FTE position reports directly to the Edmonton Corridor Clinical Department Lead (CCDL), Anesthesia.
The Deputy Corridor Clinical Department Lead for Quality will integrate site-based quality assessment and initiatives into the broader corridor quality structure and the provincial surgical quality processes.
Reporting to the CCDL, Anesthesia they will Chair the Anesthesia Zone Quality Committee made up of the quality representatives from each site in the corridor. Here they will coordinate building a minimum standard of reporting within the corridor, the selection of corridor-wide initiatives, and identify systemic concerns that will be reported into the Zone QAR process. They will lead improvement initiatives in both clinical practice and drug management and will liaise with corridor pharmacy to manage drug related shortages and substitutions and provide a point of contact for pharmacy services and anesthesiologists when concerns arise.
This position will ensure physician involvement in, and promotion of, quality assurance initiatives, both site specific and department wide and liaise with physician representatives from other Departments and sites on issues relating to the quality process or care of patients across the corridor.
The position has an expected term of 3 years.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution and a passion for quality and patient safety. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers.
The successful candidate will possess superior interpersonal skills, have demonstrated supervisory experience and be an excellent clinician with the respect of their peers.
Candidates must possess a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPSC) fellowship, or equivalent designation, be eligible to work in Canada, and hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
