Position Description:
The physician shall take over comprehensive full-time community-based practice in Dermatology providing both outpatient and inpatient services under the auspices of the Medical Specialties Program and participate in the on-call rotation of the Department of Internal Medicine and Division of Dermatology, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Job Duties:
- Provide an outpatient service for the assessment and management of both new and follow-up patients.
- Provide consultations to hospital-based patients for Dermatology
- Provide telephone consultation to colleagues.
- Participate in departmental and other appropriate Medical Specialties Programs committees.
- Negotiate planned service gaps in advance to ensure coverage
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to address staff and patient education needs.
- Practice in a collaborative fashion as a member of an interdisciplinary team and consult with members of other health professions as appropriate.
- Participate in the use of departmental and corporate evidence-based rules of practice to ensure that expected standards of care are achieved.
- Participate in the teaching of residents, medical students and other members of health professions in subjects related to the practice of internal medicine.
- Participate in the on-call rota of the Division of Dermatology Medicine including scheduled daytime and statutory holiday weekday coverage of the Emergency Department and of inpatients.
- Participate in the dermatology sub-specialty call scheduled, providing daytime, nighttime, weekend and statutory holiday coverage.
- Maintain all patient records in the office and the hospital current and in accordance with the Horizon Health Network bylaws, medical staff rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Participate in medical practice that is compatible with Health Authority’s mission, values and strategic directions.
- Within the confines of this scope of practice and position description, provide other duties that may arise by circumstance and may be assigned by the Department Head of Internal Medicine, the Chief of Medical Specialties, the Chief of Staff, Zone 2 Medical Director and/or Vice President of Medical and Academic Affairs.
Remuneration:
Salaried
The candidate will be remunerated on a salaried model.
Qualifications:
- Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as Specialist in Internal Medicine and Dermatology.
- Must hold a valid license to practice medicine in the Province of New Brunswick
- Must be a member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick and the New Brunswick Medical Society.
- Must have current malpractice insurance from the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) appropriate to the category of practice.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills.
- Good attendance and work record.
- Physically able to perform assigned duties.

Incentives:
$100,000.00 accompanied by a 4 year return of service.
Relocation reimbursement of up to $8,000.

Horizon’s Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital (DECRH) is located in the city of Fredericton, the capital of New Brunswick. This regional hospital is recognized as a centre of expertise for reconstructive and restorative medicine and a leading plastic surgery centre.
The DECRH provides undergraduate and graduate education experience for approximately 20 health disciplines and is a certified partner of the Dalhousie University Family Medicine program and the University of New Brunswick nursing program, and houses the Veterans Health Unit.
A $250 million project to provide a state-of-the-art environment for maternal and newborn, intensive care, surgical care, day surgery, ambulatory procedures, phlebotomy, and health records service is underway (project schedule spans August 2016 to March 2024).
Recent achievements at this facility include increased capacity on 4 West, completion of an Emergency Risk Assessment review to reduce workplace violence and a Recreation Therapy Responsive Behaviours project.
