Position Description:
Horizon Health Network is seeking a short term or long term salaried locum Family Physicians to join the Fredericton Northside Community Health Clinic (FNCHC) which is a collaborative care practice staffed by 8 physicians and 3 nurse practitioners who work in a team with other allied health care workers to ensure that patients receive primary care from the most appropriate provider. Those allied health care workers include a social worker, a registered dietitian, a respiratory therapist, a licensed clinical therapist, among a team of registered nurses, licenced practical nurses, and an administrative support staff. Services at the clinic include bloodwork, ECG machine, complex wound care, breast feeding education, and a variety of sexual health exams and services such as IUD removal, insertions and biopsy exams.
The purpose of this role is to increase access for patients when their provider is not available to them. The locum would act as the provider for the time the primary care provider is not available to their patients. This will enhance patient access and satisfaction and decrease ER and walk in clinic usage. Providers will benefit from decreased demand for appointments.
Coverage priority would be given to sudden or extended medical leaves, inpatient weeks, education leaves, and vacations.
As a primary care family physician in a collaborative practice, the physician will deliver care and work within the interdisciplinary team to provide family centered primary care that emphasizes health promotion, disease and injury prevention, chronic disease management and client education. The physician provides primary care functions to clients across the lifespan and participates in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs and services for individuals, families and the community.

Job Duties:
- Be available to help cross cover physicians practice while the patients provider is unavailable as well as provide same - day access for affiliated patients.
- Manage paper and ebox mail for absent provider.
- Work in a team based environment working directly with other allied health team members in a shared care model.
- Have superior communication skills to enhance collaboration with shared patients.
- Have working knowledge of EMR or willingness to learn.
- Work standards and expectations of care as outlined by clinic and team members.
- Provide virtual care when appropriate.
Hours of Work:
22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE)
Position would have 1 assigned evening shift
Hours flexible within the clinics schedule
Remuneration:
Salaried
Remuneration is typically the same method of as the position he/she is covering.
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must hold a valid license to practice medicine in the Province of New Brunswick
· Must be a member in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick.
· Must have current malpractice insurance from the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) appropriate to the category of practice.
· CCFP certification preferred.
· Certified in BCLS (Basic cardiac life support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Sup)ort(, preferred.
· Excellent communication, interpersonal and team-building skills.
· Good attendance and work record.
· Physically able to perform assign duties.

Locum support policy would apply for locum periods of 28 days or less.

Horizon’s Fredericton Northside Community Health Centre has a collaborative care team made up of 8 physicians, a nurse practitioner, RNs, licensed practical nurses and administrative support staff. Patients can also access social work services, a registered dietitian, respiratory therapist, and diabetic outreach nurse.
The team works together to provide primary health care services to families in this region. The centre also offers educational sessions and wellness programs in order to assist patients seeking a healthy lifestyle change and promotes overall better health.
