Job Description
Work in a rural Emergency Department with a great group.
TDMH operates a 24/7 Emergency Department with approximately 25,000 annual visits (approximately 60/day). TDMH is a 50-bed hospital that offers a range of medical and diagnostic services, including CT, 24-hour laboratory, X-ray, and respiratory therapy. We also provide specialty services in Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, General Surgery, and Anesthesia.
The Basics: Call, Payment, and Schedule
Remuneration is provided through our Emergency Department’s AFA. Hourly rates vary depending on shift commitment. In addition, local members, whether active (5+ shifts/month) or locum, will receive incentives as demonstrated below.
If you work 5+shifts/month: Base Rate $220-$255/hr PLUS incentive of $70-$130/hr for TOTAL: $220-$375/hr
(Base rates and incentives are higher from Dec 19-Jan 6, with incentives, for a TOTAL of $280-580/hr)
If you work less than 5 shifts/month: Base Rate $175-$235/hr, incentive of $70-$130/hr for TOTAL: $175-$365/hr
(Incentives are higher Dec 19-Jan 6, for a TOTAL of $235-555/hr)
On top of this hourly rate, you will receive shadow billings of 50%. A call shift (which covers sick calls, emergency transfers, and inpatient coverage) pays a stipend of $600 on weekdays and $800 on weekends. If you are called in, you will receive an additional $500 and can bill FFS for the patients you see.
Active Membership also allows for early and preferential scheduling.
A Return of Service Agreement is available. Details to be discussed with interested applicants.
Want to pair your ED shifts with a family practice or Hospitalist work?
We are incredibly flexible! We live by fair and equitable scheduling, where vacation is expected and supported. We agree that work/life balance is super important, so feel free to build your career the way you want with TDMH. We can offer as many shifts as you would like to take. Shifts are single coverage and 8 hours long, but can be extended to 16 if you prefer. We have one double-coverage shift Monday - Friday, 1400-2030, when coverage is available.
Who We’re Looking for
People who will create a collegial, supportive environment are preferred! Family docs and new grads are welcome. ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications are a must, but TDMH can facilitate these courses.
TDMH is also willing to provide supervision or mentorship required for re-entry to practice in Canada as needed.
