Job Description
Covenant Health invites applications for the position of Family Medicine Obstetrics physician (locum) based primarily at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta and working with the Millwoods Maternity Care Clinic.
The successful applicants will be expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment in the Department of Family Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Completion of a two-year Family Medicine Residency, with demonstrated interest and experience in Primary Care Obstetrics
- Strong clinical competence combined with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A collaborative, collegial approach and a proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
Professional Attributes
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
- A strong commitment to trauma-informed care and culturally safe, patient-centred practice
- The ability to work respectfully and cooperatively in a group practice setting (essential)
- Experience or interest in caring for patients with substance use disorders (considered an asset)
Call Responsibilities
Participation in the Millwoods Maternity Care Clinic (MMCC) call group is required. The current model of care includes 24/7 in-hospital call coverage, with one physician on service at all times.
Required:
· MD or equivalent.
· Licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
· Recent ALARM certification or willingness to obtain.
· Eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada
· Demonstrated commitment to quality care, patient safety and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)
· Understanding of Just Culture principles in healthcare.
Required:
· MD or equivalent.
· Licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
