North Burlington Medical Centre (NBMC) - physician owned and serving Burlington and surrounding communities since 1992 - now has several opportunities for family physicians looking to work in an established family health group practice.
These opportunities include - all options:
1. Walk-In Clinic shifts - mostly in person with occasional telephone visits (i.e. follow-up test results)
2. Family Practice - part-time
3. Locum coverage for our 13 family docs
4. Hospital work - including hospitalist coverage
5. Nursing Home opportunities when available
6. Hospice care
7. House calls
8. Teaching medical students and residents from McMaster University
This an opportunity for a new (or recent) grad to join an existing, well-established Family Health Group (FHG) with collegial colleagues who share time off vacation coverage. With the Walk-In (WI) Clinic component of our practice, previous new docs have had no trouble building a busy family practice within a few months by meeting unattached patients in the walk-in clinic.
Our WI Clinic typically sees 150-200 patients per day (busy days 250+ patients in 12 hours). We pride ourselves on our "patient's first" approach. Most of our WI docs are also family docs in the community (at our location or at other practices around town). Many docs have been with us for 15-20 years or more. Our WI Clinic is open 365 days a year so the community knows we are available - it helps that we have a rota of 25-30 docs to fill shifts, so we all get time off.
We have full nursing, billing, and receptionist support and use Telus Practice Solutions (PS Suite) EMR. We have access to blood work (LifeLabs), basic imaging (Halton X-Ray and Ultrasound) in the building as well as equipment for simple procedures (e.g. suturing, LN2, ear syringing, FB removal, etc). Our RPNs and MOAs are trained to do strep, COVID, and urine testing as needed.
Docs at NBMC bill extremely well due to enhanced fee for service for FHG rostered patients including 30% after hours premiums above existing OHIP fees. As there are still no individual caps on physician billing in Ontario, docs in our group can earn as much as they choose - depending on how many shifts they wish to do. Our WI clinic shifts are typically 4 hours long and docs typically take home $150-$250/hr - after overhead. Take home pay range for our WI Clinic docs is $200-$500/hr - again this is after overhead paid to group. I would be pleased to meet and give anyone interested to learn more a tour and discuss overhead splits in person. It would be my pleasure to help a new grad transition from residency to practice.
