Job Description

About the Position

Brock CHC is seeking a Family Physician who shares our passion for community-focused health, and is motivated to make a lasting difference in a rural setting where their work will truly matter. With a salaried model of compensation, physicians benefit from stable income, no overhead or staffing costs, no OHIP billing requirements, reduced administrative burden, and paid vacation and benefits.

In addition to a favourable work-life balance, physicians work as members of an interdisciplinary team that includes nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, physiotherapist, dietitian, diabetes educators, outreach workers and administrative staff.

Scope of Work:

·        Provide high-quality, patient-centred urgent care, supporting timely access to assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients presenting with urgent and episodic medical concerns as required by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario standards of practice

·        Manage a broad range of acute conditions within the scope of primary care, recognizing and appropriately referring patients requiring emergency or specialized care

·        Provide appropriate follow-up, referrals, investigations and coordination of care as required

·        Provide patient education, health promotion and preventative care as appropriate during urgent care encounters

·        Maintain accurate, timely and confidential medical documentation in accordance with professional and organizational standards

·        Strive to achieve provincial performance targets set by Ontario Health

·        Promote a team-based, integrated approach to primary care that considers the patient’s physical, mental, social and environmental health needs

·        Share responsibility for the on-call coverage (telephone only) offered by Brock CHC

·        Provide coverage for other primary care practitioners when required

·        Work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, medical secretaries, allied health professionals and other members of the interdisciplinary CHC team

Qualifications:

·        Degree in Family Medicine from a recognized university and currently licensed to practice in the province of Ontario by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario

·        Certification in Family Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) preferred

·        Current CMPA or equivalent professional liability coverage

·        Alignment with the Centre’s values – equity, confidentiality, compassion, collaboration, responsiveness, education and respect

·        Experience as a Family Physician working with all ages in a community health setting

·        Experience working in rural, vulnerable or medically complex populations (preferred)

·        Demonstrated leadership in promoting a shared responsibility for professional practice and development

·        Proficiency with EMR systems

·        Commitment to patient-centred, equitable and accessible health care

·        Strong time management and organizational skills

This role will require some evening and potential weekend hours and home visits.
