Position Description:
Horizon Health Network, Miramichi area (Region 7), is actively seeking GP Oncology Support physician. As a General Practitioner, the successful candidate will deliver services to cancer patients within a regional interdisciplinary team setting.

Job Duties:
- Provide care to patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive care treatments in the oncology clinic.
- Review labs and other reports and write prescriptions on a daily basis.
- Responsible for dictating and signing off on their patient encounters report on a daily basis.
- Responsible for written referrals and forms.
- Participate in weekly oncology collaborative care rounds.
- Liaise with the attending hospitalist when the oncology patients are admitted to MRH with complications secondary to their treatment to ensure continuity of care.
- Liaise with the palliative medicine service and extra-mural nursing service when appropriate.
- Participate in the use of departmental and corporate evidence-based rules of practice to ensure that expected standards of care are achieved.
- Participate in medical practice that is compatible with the Health Authority’s mission, values and strategic directions.
- Other duties that may arise by circumstance and may be assigned by the Department head of Oncology and the Chief of Staff.
Remuneration:
Flexible
Physicians are free to negotiate their preferred method of remuneration. For specialties, it varies between fee-for-service or salaried remuneration. For primary care, physicians can choose salary, fee-for-service or the Family Medicine New Brunswick model.
Qualifications:
- A medical degree is required.
- Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick
- Member in good standing with the New Brunswick Medical Society.
- Active membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent liability insurance association.
- Verification of good standing within Professional Association (Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada; College of Family Physicians of Canada: American Board, or equivalent specialty association).
- Certification or comparable experience as Family Physician in Oncology is desirable; CME support available.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and team building skills.
- Good attendance and work record.
- Physically able to perform assigned duties.
Expected Start Date:
As soon as possible
Incentives:
$100,000.00 accompanied by a 4 year return of service.
Relocation reimbursement of up to $8,000.

Horizon’s Miramichi Regional Hospital is situated in the northeastern part of New Brunswick in the city of Miramichi.
The hospital provides health care services to the city of Miramichi and its surrounding communities, which have broad roots in Irish and Scottish descent, and includes four vibrant Francophone communities and three progressive First Nation communities covering a catchment population of 46,000.
The hospital offers a full complement of health care services, including General Surgery, Urology, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology and Oncology services. A large variety of ambulatory care services are also provided including a Healthy Kids Pediatric Ambulatory Care program.
The facility is home to state-of-the-art Diagnostic Equipment, including a 64-slice CT scanner and Accredited Digital Mammogram machines. A new ambulatory oncology clinic opened in 2017, and a new Geriatric Program opened in 2018.
