Job Description
Part-time Locum Opportunity at a FHO/FHT Group Practice
Posting #50-26-019
A member of a large, well-supported group family practice is seeking longitudinal locum coverage for 1–1.5 days per week starting January 2027. This is an excellent opportunity for a physician seeking consistent part-time work within a collaborative group practice with strong interdisciplinary and administrative supports, as well as opportunities for involvement in medical education.
Each half-day includes 3 hours of paid direct patient care and 1 hour of paid indirect patient care for inbox management and other patient-related administrative work. Half-day sessions may be scheduled in the morning, afternoon, or evening.
The locum will help provide care for a roster of approximately 1,500 patients. Appointments are typically booked at 15-minute intervals, with 30-minute appointments available for more complex concerns, including diabetes and mental health visits. The locum can generally expect to see approximately 16–18 patients per full day (8–9 per half-day).
The practice is part of a Family Health Team and benefits from extensive interdisciplinary support, including a nurse practitioner or physicial assistant, dietitian, clinical pharmacist, systems navigator, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, social workers, and other allied health professionals. The practice also has a dedicated practice manager and a large administrative team, including receptionists, medical office assistants, bookkeeping, and billing support.
The practice uses OSCAR EMR. Each physician has access to 1–2 examination rooms and a dedicated workstation. Free staff parking is available on site, and the building includes both staff and patient washrooms.
The locum physician will receive a stipend for clinical and indirect patient care work. The practice is also involved in medical education, and the locum may occasionally be asked to supervise residents and/or medical students. Interest or experience in resident education and supervision would be an asset.
