Job Description
Pembroke Regional Hospital (PRH) Ambulatory Clinics Program is seeking a part-time Lead Physician for the Heart Function Clinic to provide expert clinical leadership and care for patients with heart failure and other vascular conditions. This position is an excellent opportunity for a physician looking to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative and supportive healthcare environment.
Referrals to the Heart Function Clinic are generally received from PRH inpatient units or the Emergency Department as well as primary care offices. The clinic is supported by two RNs experienced in vascular health teaching and dedicated clerical support is provided.
Patient appointment structure is flexible depending on physician preference and can be either in-person or virtual (via OTN), hybrid options can also be explored. PRH currently utilizes a hybrid EMR (ANZER), with Dragon dictation and select reports available for remote viewing. PRH is on track to move to EPIC in late 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered care for individuals with heart failure and other vascular conditions, including diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of cardiac conditions.
- Follow-up between clinics for urgent results or urgent patient inquiries in consultation with the clinic team.
- Lead and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership on initiatives to improve patient care and hospital services.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Time Commitment:
Flexible depending on physician availability, with a minimum time commitment of one clinic monthly to a maximum of one full day or half clinic day per week.
Position Requirements
- Fully independent registration (or eligible for) with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
- Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada – FRCPC in Cardiology or Internal Medicine with special interest in Cardiology
- Experience working with teams and possessing strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
