The Opportunity
Our plastic surgery team is looking to expand our group. We are offering a locum as early as January 2025 with the opportunity for full-time employment for the right candidate. The collegial team of four plastic surgeons encourages personal development and growth.
This position will include comprehensive plastic surgery with a special focus on reconstructive breast surgery. This would include both immediate and delayed reconstruction but at this time there is no microsurgical program. Call responsibilities are one week in four (1:4) and include coverage for hand trauma, though craniofacial trauma expertise is not a requirement.
This position comes with weekly main OR time and minor procedure clinic access (up to one day per week). The ideal candidate is a surgeon interested in taking the lead on developing a more formal breast reconstruction program supported by an active group of general surgeons. Potential additional resources are available in this regard. This is a community-based position at a large regional hospital with no formal teaching or research requirements. PRHC has a welcoming and congenial OR staff with a friendly community hospital environment.
Position Qualifications:
• Applicants must hold, or be eligible to obtain, licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). A clear and viable pathway to licensure must be established at the time of application
•Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or equivalent training (e.g., American Board Certification) and eligible for RCPSC assessment.
• Eligible for Active or associate staff privileges at Peterborough Regional Health Centre
• Evidence of ongoing continued medical education
• Demonstrated ability to Integrate current evidence and best practice into delivery of quality care in the division
• Demonstrated analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with physicians, nursing, staff, patients, directors, managers, and the community as required
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to adapt to continually changing priorities
• Demonstrated ability to achieve goals and objectives within specified time frames
• Commitment to an interdisciplinary team approach
• Actively encourage a spirit of cooperation amongst team members
