The Palliative & End-Of-Life Care Program, Alberta Health Services, Calgary Corridor, in collaboration with Wing Kei Care Centres, is currently accepting applications for qualified family physicians to fill 3-4 new attending physician positions at Wing Kei Hospice.  This 16-bed hospice is projected to open in Fall 2026 and will operate within Wing Kei Highland Park Care Centre, which is the first phase of Wing Kei Village, and will consist of a total of 180 beds offering culturally-appropriate Continuing Care and Hospice Care for seniors in Calgary.

Responsibilities/Duties:
•    Comprehensive medical assessment of assigned residents upon admission to hospice
•    Weekday rounding of assigned residents (approximately 4 residents), minimum twice per week
•    Answering calls from interdisciplinary team members about assigned residents during business hours (7:00 AM - 5:00 PM on weekdays)
•    Attendance at scheduled interdisciplinary team rounds, once per week
•    Equitable participation in after-hours (5:00 PM - 7:00 AM on weekdays and 24/7 on weekends and statutory holidays) on-call coverage of hospice residents 
•    Provision of safe, quality, person-centered care, inclusive of family support
•    Engagement of palliative care consultant and other specialist services when clinically appropriate
•    Maintenance of professional skills and refined expertise through appropriate continuing medical education activities

•    Certification by the College of Family Physicians of Canada 
•    Licensure in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta
•    Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association
•    Eligibility for medical staff appointment within the Department of Family Medicine, Alberta Health Services
•    Minimum 3 years experience in hospice/palliative care
•    Preference for CFPC (PC) designation - Certificate of Added Competence in Palliative Care 
•    Preference for candidates having completed courses such as Pallium LEAP Courses
•    Clinical excellence in the described role
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
•    Excellent leadership skills and potential
•    Ability to collaborate in a team setting to create patient-focused solutions
•    Desire to participate and contribute to quality improvement activities
•    English language proficiency
•    Willingness to attend an in-person interview with an interview panel and provide references upon request
 

 

The candidate must have or be eligible for General Register with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

This position is not sponsorship eligible.
