The Corridor Clinical Department Section Lead CCDSL) - Orthopedic Surgery - CRH is a medical leadership role governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and works collaboratively in a dyad leadership model with Directors for AHS administration, to lead and participate in the development of system wide clinical services. The CCDSL is responsible for overseeing clinical operations involving members of their Corridor Clinical Department Section and reports to the Corridor Clinic Department Lead – Surgery.

The CCDSL fulfills the duties and responsibilities assigned by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules as they pertain to the South Corridor Clinical Department of Surgery, Section of Orthopedic Surgery.  The CCD will maintain and recruit an appropriately trained physician workforce, ensure high standards of clinical care and ethical conduct of medical staff, foster maintenance of CS and promote a learning environment for physicians, students and staff within South Corridors.

 Key Responsibilities:
                                                   

•        Meet with your Corridor Clinical Department Head (CCDL) regularly;

•        Periodic reviews for Corridor Clinical Department Section members (every 3 years, or annual for staff > 65-year-old) at request of CCDL;

•        Probationary Assessments for all new active members of the medical staff within clinical department of responsibility at request of CCDL;

•        Ensuring on call coverage and managing issues that arise;

•        Participate in Corridor and Provincial work as designated by the CCDL, Associate Corridor Medical Lead, or Zone Medical Director;

•        Identify need for and manage recruitment together with your CCDL and Corridor Medical Affairs;

•        Practitioner workforce planning in collaboration with Corridor Medical Affairs;

•        Represent the facility positively to external stakeholders;

•        Promoting and representing the activities of the Corridor Clinical Department Section.

Along with carrying out the above key responsibilities, the CCDSL should have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution and a passion for quality and patient safety. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader and considered to be a strong clinician by peers.
