Job Summary

Western Zone is seeking the services of salaried hospitalist in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador.  The Hospitalist is responsible for providing comprehensive inpatient medical care to adult patients admitted to WMRH. This includes the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of acute and complex medical conditions, as well as collaboration in discharge planning and transitions of care. The Hospitalist functions as the Most Responsible Physician (MRP) for assigned patients and works closely with multidisciplinary team members to ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centred care.

The role involves participation in a structured hospitalist model, including scheduled daytime clinical coverage and shared call responsibilities. The Hospitalist will manage a defined inpatient census, provide consultation support as required, and contribute to after-hours coverage in accordance with departmental scheduling.

Western Memorial Regional Hospital (WMRH) is a newly constructed, state-of-the-art acute care facility that opened in June 2024. The hospital serves as a 164-bed regional referral centre for Western Newfoundland, delivering a broad range of secondary and select tertiary services to a population of approximately 80,000 residents across the region.

 We are affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine of Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, and we encourage and support academic interests.

Qualifications Required: Eligible for licensure as a Family Physician with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL) and satisfy the credentialing requirements of NLHS Discipline of Family Practice.

Remuneration: Remuneration:  The Hospitalist Salary Scale ranges from $246,848.34 to $267,286.17 as outlined in the current Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with Provincial Guidelines will officially determine a Physician's step assignment with yearly progression thereafter.
