The Indigenous Wellness Program Clinical Alternate Relationship Plan (IWP cARP) is inviting applications from Physicians licensed to practice in Alberta. The IWP cARP is growing and requires additional providers (full or part time). All specialties are welcome!
Physicians in the IWP cARP collaborate with allied healthcare providers to facilitate culturally safe and patient-centered care, in Communities and/or in specialized clinics to First Nations (Status and Non-status), Métis, and Inuit patients. Mental health and addictions, women’s health and pediatric care are also provided using a holistic and cultural approach.
Locations: various Indigenous Communities throughout Alberta, including Fist Nation Communities and Métis Settlements. In addition to in person care, services can be provided through the Alberta Indigenous Virtual Care Clinic (AIVCC).
Eligible to receive Rural Remote Northern Program and Business Cost Program incentives.
Responsibilities / Accountabilities:
- Provide primary health care services to Indigenous peoples in their communities throughout Alberta, including First Nation Communities and Métis Settlements;
- Liaise with the community’s health leadership, AHS medical leadership and IWP cARP management committee to schedule delivery of the Services;
- Coordinate service schedule with the community;
- Participate in a multidisciplinary team including nursing and dietary support provided by federal or band employed nurses, social workers, dieticians, clerks, etc.;
- Provide General Primary Care medical services;
- Provide Chronic Disease Management medical services;
- Provide Mental Health and Addiction medical services;
- Provide Chronic Pain and Palliative Care medical services.
Term and FTE:
Unlimited roles that can be full time or part time FTE.
Qualifications:
- Interested applicants must hold or be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
- Applicants must have experience or a sincere desire to deliver health services to Indigenous patients in their community.
- Maintain or be eligible for an AHS medical staff appointment.
