Northern Health is recruiting for a Anatomical or General Pathologist to join the medical staff at the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC) in Prince George, BC. The successful candidate will join a group of 5 other pathologists at the site. This is a regional centre that provides a wide range of anatomical and clinical pathology services to Northern BC.
Minimum requirements include Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in anatomical pathology or general pathology and eligibility for licensure to practice in BC.
Our department receives approximately 20,000 surgical specimens annually from UHNBC and the surrounding area. We support general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, urology, plastic surgery, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology and ENT practices. Family physicians, dermatologists, radiologists, gastroenterologists, respirologists and other clinical specialties are also important contributors to our anatomical pathology work.
Clinical pathology is a large part of our practice, including direct interpretation of clinical specimens/assay results (eg. bone marrows, peripheral smears, protein electrophoresis etc.), consultation with clinical colleagues and medical leadership/oversight of transfusion, microbiology and chemistry laboratories in a local and regional setting.
We are looking for an anatomical/general pathologist who will maintain the highest possible standards of practice and is motivated to participate in medical leadership and oversight.
If you are interested in joining us, please send your curriculum vitae, a letter of interest and contact information for at least 3 references to Health Match BC.
