Physicians are currently paid on an annualized ARP or alternate relationship plan at a daily base rate of $1680 for about 8 hours of clinical time. Outside of this base rate, $20 per hour are held for administrative costs and variable amount may be returned to physicians at the end of each fiscal year dependent on the costs of running the program, which can vary from year to year. Rates are equivalent to ARP rates of compensation for family medicine physicians.

Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be based on the income scale of a competitive and highly successful academic alternate funding plan. 2021-2022 Alberta Health Billing Data Avg. Gross Annual Payment for Pediatrics was $304,381.

Total compensation for fee-for-service billings vary by individual practitioner, and the compensation shown reflects the average range of wages for this specialty as reported by Alberta Health. (Approximately $300,000-$600,000)

Fee-for-service; hourly contract compensation with guaranteed income; no overhead; flexible scheduling (up to 40 hours/week)

Administrative Contract; eligible for Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) incentives: Recruitment Incentive $10,000 (full-time); Relocation reimbursement up to $15,000; Fee/Retention Premium 6.09%; Annual Flat Fee $9,437.76; Rural CME $2,200–$4,400/annum (amounts current as of Aug 2024).

Fee-for-Service; Rural Retention Program (RRP): $13,668.48 annually (must practice ≥9 months and bill the minimum), 8.82% fee premium; Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME): $0 during first 2 years, $2,200 (FPs) or $3,000 (SPs) annually in years 3–4, $4,400 (FPs) or $6,000 (SPs) annually in year 5+ (issued quarterly); Recruitment Incentive Fund (RIF): $10,000 for physicians filling open Physicians Supply Plan positions in qathet (prorated for <1.0 FTE); Recruitment Contingency Fund (RCF): moving expense assistance $9,000 (within BC), $12,000 (within Canada), $15,000 (outside Canada).
