Brant Community Healthcare System
Brant Community Healthcare System (BCHS) is a 300+ bed, acute care facility boasting stable, state-of-the-art Programs within a team environment and with a dedicated staff that ensures high-level, patient-focused care. The organization is comprised of two main hospital sites, the Brantford General Hospital and Willet Hospital in Paris. Located in the picturesque Grand River Valley 20 minutes west of Hamilton, our community offers outstanding recreational opportunities.
BCHS is the area’s acute care facility, providing all of Brantford and Brant County's specialty programs and services for our 120,000+ residents. We are a regional centre for a variety of services including surgical services. The Department of Internal Medicine is comprised of a number of divisions including Hospital Based Internal Medicine, Critical Care, Oncology, and Nephrology. The division of critical care provides coverage to the Brantford General’s recently expanded Critical Care Unit now comprised of a total of 24 critical care beds across two units with 17 level 3 and 7 level 2 beds. Both units are closed CCU units managed by intensivists. The intensivists are also responsible for the Physician-Led Critical Care Response (CCRT) program.
The Division of Critical Care at the Brant Community Healthcare System is currently recruiting Intensivists to join their locum pool. This opportunity includes inpatient work in the Critical Care Units (CCU), as well as with the Physician Led Critical Care Response Team (CCRT). Locum Intensivists will be expected to provide availability and commitment to a minimum of two night shifts per month.
The ideal candidate will have an independent practice license from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and Critical Care Medicine certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. Members of the division of Critical Care are expected to participate in the teaching of medical students and residents.
BCHS serves a high population of indigenous persons in the region therefore culturally appropriate care for indigenous patients is a priority to the organization. Physicians with experience and an interest in caring for indigenous persons are encouraged to apply.
