South Health Campus Site Lead, Orthopaedic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Calgary Corridor
The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services–Calgary Corridor and the University of Calgary invite applications for the position of South Health Campus Site Lead, Orthopaedic Surgery in Calgary, Alberta.
This leadership position is open to surgeons based primarily in Calgary. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated an interest in surgical leadership and will have a respected profile in the physician community. They will have effective communication skills and a track record of engaging their team members. They will have demonstrated success in areas of clinical practice and either education, research, quality improvement or leadership.
The South Health Campus Site Lead, Orthopaedic Surgery, Department of Surgery, Calgary Corridor plays an important role in supporting the mission of the Department of Surgery.
Duties and responsibilities include:
1. To participate as the Section of Orthopaedic surgery representative on the site’s surgical services committee and any other site advisory committees as needed.
2. To organize emergent and scheduled Orthopaedic Surgery Services at the site including
development of a call schedule, allocation of OR blocks and clinics.
3. To advise the Section Chief and the Corridor Clinical Department Head on any issues relating to personnel, bed utilization and resources at the site.
4. To provide feedback on section members and participate in periodic reviews of section members at the site.
5. To review patient, nursing and other concerns pertaining to section members at the site.
6. To support the Section of Orthopaedic Surgery in search and selection processes for members at the site.
7. To support the Section Chief and the Corridor Clinical Department Head in workforce planning and other forms of strategic planning for the site.
8. To provide information for the Department of Surgery annual report, or any other materials relevant to the site, as requested by Section Chief and the Corridor Clinical Department Head.
9. To participate in quality assurance reviews as required by the site with matters relevant to Orthopaedic Surgery.
10. To organize regular safety review case rounds for the section members at the site.
11. To participate in quality programs at the site by evaluating data presented and helping to develop care pathways and clinical practice guidelines.
12. To work in concert with other Orthopaedic Surgery site leads, as required, to improve patient care, optimize synergy and minimize duplication of efforts throughout the Calgary Corridor.
13. To actively participate in planning and coordination of all clinical and academic activities as a member of the Calgary Corridor, Bone and Joint Health Program.
Educational and Research Responsibilities:
14. To support Orthopaedic educational and research activities at the site.
