Job Description

Neonatologist – Department of Pediatrics

Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) is a leading provider of specialized pediatric care in the vibrant Windsor-Essex region. We invite applications from passionate and skilled full-time Neonatologists to join our cohesive and innovative multidisciplinary team.

As part of our dynamic team, you will collaborate with experienced neonatologists, general pediatricians, dedicated Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs), compassionate nurses, and a diverse group of allied health professionals. Together, we are committed to delivering exceptional family-centered care for the newborns in our region.

Why Choose Neonatology at WRH?
- Comprehensive and Advanced NICU: Manage a variety of complex neonatal conditions in our advanced 22-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which is equipped with full Level 2c capabilities and select Level 3a capabilities. Our facility offers long-term invasive and non-invasive ventilation options, including both conventional and high-frequency. We also provide therapeutic hypothermia, inhaled nitric oxide, and comprehensive screening and treatment for retinopathy of prematurity. Additionally, we have state-of-the-art equipment for functional echocardiography and point-of-care ultrasound.
- Focus on Cutting-Edge Care: Deliver specialized, evidence-based care for infants born at or after 26 weeks gestational age, leveraging advanced technologies and innovative practices.
- A Collaborative Ecosystem: Thrive within a tight-knit, supportive and engaged multidisciplinary team, collaborating daily with fellow neonatologists, pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, NNPs, nurses, respiratory therapists, a neonatal dietitian, a neonatal pharmacist, and an occupational therapist.
- Contribute to Specialized Programs: Play a key role in our specialized programs, including our vital Neonatal Neurodevelopmental Follow-Up Clinic and High-Risk Nutritional Follow-Up Clinic.
- Academic Enrichment and Research Advancement: Experience an engaging academic environment in Windsor, home to a campus of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry MD program, as well as a key clinical teaching unit (CTU) for their Pediatric Residency program. Our NICU promotes collaboration with the Departments of Pediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynecology, facilitating meaningful clinical, teaching, and research initiatives.
- Connect with National Leaders: Be an active participant in a program that proudly belongs to both the Canadian Neonatal Network and the Canadian Neurodevelopmental Follow-up Network, facilitating collaboration, knowledge sharing, and access to national best practices.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Provide expert and comprehensive clinical care to neonates within our advanced NICU.
- Actively contribute to clinical and quality improvement initiatives within both the NICU and our specialized Neurodevelopmental Follow-up programs.
- Inspire and mentor the next generation of physicians through active engagement in the educational development of undergraduate medical students and pediatric residents.
- Participate in the administrative functions of the program and department, and contribute to scholarly activities.
- Foster seamless collaboration within our multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal, family-centered care.
- Pursue opportunities for cross-appointment at the Faculty of Science, University of Windsor, serving as an influential role model for future healthcare professionals.

What you bring to Our Team:
- Possession of an MD or equivalent degree.
- Eligibility for licensure to practice medicine with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
- Subspecialty certification in Neonatal Perinatal Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or equivalent.
- Demonstrated excellence in the English language.
- Candidates with additional training or experience in point-of-care ultrasound, functional echocardiography, or neurodevelopmental follow-up are encouraged to apply.

Become a valued member of our dedicated neonatal team. Apply to WRH today!

Interested candidates should submit their Curriculum Vitae, a Letter of Interest/Statement of Academic Qualifications, and names, and contact information, of three academic references, to:
Dr. Sajit Augustine, Chief of Pediatrics & Medical Director of Neonatology
C/o Chelsey Thornton – Medical Affairs

Why Windsor-Essex?
The Windsor-Essex area is ecologically rich with extensive parkland along with a southwest location that extends warm weather activities such a golfing, gardening, and water sports. Windsor offers the unique opportunities of a larger metropolitan area and the benefits of a smaller community. Living directly across the border from Detroit, Michigan places you on a cosmopolitan stage where arts, culture, big league sports, and entertainment are just moments away. Best of all, you can enjoy access to all of these big-city advantages while living in the relative tranquility (and low costs) of a much smaller, friendlier community.
