Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) – Saskatoon and the University of Saskatchewan, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology is seeking applications for a permanent full time Neonatologist. The Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH) Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a 48 single room unit that provides patient care to a range of infants, including extremely premature to infants with surgical problems. The JPCH NICU has a wide catchment area providing services to Northern Saskatchewan. In addition, to standard level 3 newborn care, we offer a variety of active clinical programs such as point of care ultrasound, neuro-critical care and family centered care. The successful candidate will join a team of 5 full-time neonatologists, in a level 2 and 3 NICU, sharing in the clinical workload of the NICU follow up program at JPCH. In addition, the team consists of 6 neonatal nurse practitioners and 10 clinical associates.

Qualifications:

Applicants in consideration will have certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine (Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in both Pediatrics and NICU) and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.

The new Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital offers state-of-the-art equipment and facilities for children, mothers and families from across our province. Centrally located on the University of Saskatchewan campus, our new children’s hospital offers neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, general pediatrics, pediatric emergency and ambulatory services. Maternal services include labour and delivery, antepartum and postpartum care. It is home to the newly constructed Academic Health Sciences Complex and two of the largest science projects in the country – the Canadian Light Source synchrotron and the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization/International Vaccine Centre. A users group is available for collaborative research with clinical faculty using the $173.5 million Canadian Light Source synchrotron, owned by the University of Saskatchewan. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training.
