WDMH is a 49 bed rural community teaching hospital with over 600 obstetrical deliveries and approximately 2400 medical and surgical admissions per year.   We serve approximately 90,000 patients, with about 50 000 visits per year, of which 24,000 are Emergency Department, 450 surgical in-patients, 4000 day surgeries, over 600 obstetrical deliveries, and 19,000 ambulatory clinic visits.  There are approximately 25 full-time family doctors working within the hospital setting, supported by a robust team of surgical, anesthesia, medical and obstetrical specialists.   Many other community family physicians also provide community care or work in the Emergency Department and make referrals regularly to specialists practicing at WDMH.
